At IRVC we strive to be available for your pets whether it’s their annual care routine or when an emergency arises. Unfortunately, due to the current high demand across the nation, we may need to refer you to a 24/7 Veterinary facility. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) is a resource every pet parent should know about. You can call their pet poison control hotline at 888-426-4435 any hour of the day or night, and any day of the year including weekends and holidays

Triage

Listed below are common emergency ailments that should be seen by a veterinarian.

  1. Straining or unable to urinate (especially male cats)
  2. Vomiting/diarrhea lasting for more than 24 hours
  3. Trauma (hit by car, multiple injuries)
  4. Trouble breathing, choking or continuous coughing
  5. Swollen, bleeding or trauma to the eyes
  6. Swelling in the stomach/Bloat
  7. Ingesting toxins including but not limited to Poison (Rat bait or chemical), plants, legal/illegal drugs.
  8. Seizures that continue in clusters where the pet does not come return to normalcy.
  9. Swollen limbs
  10. Heat Stroke
  11. Pale or Blue Gums
  12. Trouble during active labor
  13. Instability to stand or unable use legs
